Great Workshops and Speakers highlight what’s trending in Festivals at the 2014 Festivals and Events Ontario conference.

Providing education, professional development and networking while fostering a community of passionate people invested in the festival and event industry, Festivals & Events Ontario (FEO) has been representing the festivals and events industry in Ontario for over 25 years.

Held annually, the 2014 Festivals and Events Ontario conference is for its 530 members representing over 1,200 Ontario Festivals and Events. The conference highlights what’s new and trending in the Festivals business by providing an extensive lineup of speakers and workshops. Among the content for this years conference is the Honorable David Peterson, former Premier of Ontario and currently the chair of the 2015 Pan Am and Parapan Games Organizing Committee. The Pan Am Games will be one of the largest events coming to Onatrio in 2015, bringing over 7,000 athletes and requiring a whopping 20,000 volunteers.

Allan Isfan will lead a workshop on Web, Social and Media-a festival’s best friend. Allan is CEO of Favequest, which has developed a comprehensive social media platform for major events which includes apps, facebook apps and content.

Joann Flaminio will lead a session called The Show must Go On, preparing for the unexpected. As president of the Boston Athletic Association, Joann is responsible for the annual Boston Marathon which had to overcome serious challenges in the aftermath of the Marathon bombings.

The conference will highlight additional sessions on a wide range of topics including Culinary Tourism, Media Coverage, Government Relations, Volunteering, Greening your Festival, Sponsorship and a host of other event and festival related business topics.

The economic impact of the festival market in Ontario is astounding. Over 3,000 events are held annually, providing a direct economic impact of over 1 billion dollars.
